Wedding Photography for Berkshire and Surrounding Counties

I’ve been photographing weddings professionally since 2009 and love every moment. I've captured over 100 weddings and there are never any two the same. All are different in their own way allowing me to express my creativity and provide memories to be relived for many years after.

Every time a couple choose me to capture their special day it is an honour that I accept with great responsibility. The kind words received when they receive their photographs makes capturing their special day very rewarding.

I'm often asked which venues are my favourite! I would have to say those by a river, a lake or with a pond because the creative opportunities with reflections. One of the highlights at Bisham Abbey is the sunset over the river! I'm proud to be a preferred supplier for Crown Plaza at Caversham Bridge and Bisham Abbey.

When I'm not working my camera is still in my hands! I enjoy going for walks with my family on the Thames and South West Coast paths as well as capturing sunset on the north coast of Cornwall.

Wedding Day

I would describe my style of photography as a mixture of reportage, candid moments and relaxed, fun group portraits. For the majority of your day I will be discreetly in the background blending in as a guest.

I usually spend about an hour with the bride, bridesmaids and mother of the bride whilst they are pampered by the make-up artists and hairdressers. I also take the opportunity to capture all the small details including shoes, jewellery, flowers, something new, old, borrowed and blue.

For preparations at home I would make you aware of the time I plan to leave for the ceremony venue (often one hour before the ceremony) so that I can capture your bridesmaids fastening up your dress and Mum putting on your veil before I leave. This could be beneficial to you too, as bridal shops recommend that some lace up dresses are put on early so that you can tighten the dress half an hour later for the perfect fit.

Groomsmen preparations usually consist of them putting on their ties and button holes which can be done on arrival at the ceremony venue if they are getting ready at a different location.

Before the guests start arriving at the ceremony venue I take some portraits of the groom with his best man and ushers. I let them be themselves which usually involves most of them winding up the groom, creating some fun natural expressions.

Attentions then turn back to the bride as she arrives at the ceremony venue with her proud parents. I always like to cover as much as the ceremony as possible in an unobtrusive reportage style however this will always be at the discretion of the officiant.

It is important that your photography doesn't take over your day so after your ceremony I continue the reportage coverage for a little while longer capturing you and your guests catching up, enjoying a sip of champagne before starting to gather everyone to photograph your group photograph requests. Whilst I like to arrange the group photographs in the traditional way I make them uncontrived and fun for all.

I like to take some relaxed contemporary photographs of the happy couple away from their guests. This usually consists of a short walk around the venue grounds to take some natural portraits. It is also an opportunity to spend a small amount of time somewhere quiet out of the spotlight to enjoy some precious time together.

Coverage of the wedding breakfast includes the speeches whether you choose to keep to tradition or get them out of the way first. I unobtrusively capture the reactions of the head table and guests as the stories in the speeches embarrass the bride and groom.

Once I have all the professional photographs of the cake cutting I step aside for the guests to take their photo, after all your day is about sharing it with them. Prior to everyone taking their seats for the wedding breakfast, I make a creative record of the decorations that have taken you time to prepare.

For those wishing me to stay an extra hour or so for the first dance I continue the reportage coverage. During this time couples and guests approach me as their new friend requesting various different combinations of photos. For those interested in a photo booth you can provide your own props and I can take some fun photos in that style.

I do all the planning of your photography taking into account your requests and requirements, ensuring your wedding photography runs smoothly, capturing every moment without taking over and allowing other vendors to do their job to the planned schedule. My relaxed nature and forward thinking is beneficial should the schedule run behind on the day keeping your wedding day flowing and ensuring I have all your requests before I leave.

Unlimited Photographs

There is no limit to the number of photographs I take during your coverage. The number of photographs will depend on the length of coverage, how much travelling there is in between venues and the amount of the ceremony I have permission to photograph. On average for full day coverage couples receive approximately 400 photographs. I use digital photography to my advantage capturing the day in colour and converting some to black and white after the wedding.

Whilst you’re enjoying your honeymoon I go through your wedding photographs individually digitally enhancing them, removing any unwanted blemishes plus food and dribble on the very young guests!

Your photographs are uploaded to a password protected page on my website for you to view online. You can also distribute the login details family and friends if you wish.

Coverage Options

You can choose from three different coverage length options to suit your day and the aspects you would like captured in the order you want them to happen. Coverage can start with the building excitement of the preparations through to the end of the first dance, capturing your special day as it unfolds.

There are shorter options for those not wishing me to visit the bridal preparations and stay for the first dance or for those wishing to have the ceremony only, including guests arriving and a few group portraits. Alternatively you can customise your own coverage choosing three, six or nine continuous hours of your preferred aspects, roughly based on quarter, half and full day coverage.

Package Flexibility

My packages are designed for you to customise as you plan your perfect wedding. Choosing a wedding photographer is usually near the top of the ‘wedding to-do list’ to guarantee a professional of a high standard and at this point you may not be sure about the length of coverage you would like and whether you would like an album.

Some couples are not too sure about having coverage of the preparations captured at the time of booking but then become very keen for the complete story of the day as the excitement builds and the countdown of weeks and days gets shorter!

A £150 deposit is required at booking stage and put towards your choice of coverage which is confirmed when we visit the venue to discuss your wedding day schedule 3 months before your wedding.

High Resolution Photographs

All coverage options include high resolution photographs on USB stick for you to make unlimited prints and copies. Sharing your special day with family and friends has never been easier. You can copy your photographs onto a mobile or tablet device and upload them to social network websites if you wish.

You will also receive a separate DVD slideshow for playing on TV DVD players and computers. The disc presentations come in a beautiful faux leather case and the luxury UV printed USB stick comes in a gift pouch.

Optional Album, Frames and Keepsakes

Using a professional photography lab and framing company, I create a high standard of bespoke albums and personal art for your home. When viewing online with no time pressure in the comfort of your own home you can choose whether to purchase any albums, frames and keepsakes.

Online product and photograph selection is straight forward using the online shop. Alternatively if you live within 30 miles of Reading and would prefer to order in person I can visit you at home. All the prices are given out before you book so there are no surprise upgrades sold to you at a later date.

Choosing your preferred presentation option after you have viewed your photographs gives you an advantage to select a presentation option to complement your favourite wedding photographs, tastes and requirements rather than committing to a particular presentation based on someone else’s wedding.

Parents can also choose their own albums if they wish with their own favourite photographs giving them the opportunity to have less photographs of the in-laws!

Guests are able to purchase gift vouchers for you to spend on albums, frames and other products in the online shop. If a number of guests would like to purchase gift vouchers a gift list can be set up.

Engagement Portraits

At the venue visit I will take some natural portraits in style of how I will work during your wedding so you will know what to expect on the day. This helps to eliminate any nerves you may have about having your photograph taken showing how I will make you feel at ease. High resolution digital copies are put onto your USB stick with your wedding photographs.

For your piece of mind I am fully qualified with a first class BA Honours degree in Professional Photographic Imaging and a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP).

I am fully insured with public liability and professional indemnity insurances, DBS checked and always carry professional back up equipment of everything for this one off occasion. Your images are backed up as they are taken with cameras saving the day on two memory cards.

With experience to adapt to ever changing lighting conditions every minute of the day in any season, whatever the weather, I can provide great photography in all types of venues such as churches, hotels, registry offices, marquees, golf clubs, village halls and barns.

Free Informal No-obligation Meeting

A free no-obligation in formal meeting can be arranged to give you the opportunity to meet me, view examples of my work and discuss your requirements.

Diane is an amazing wedding photographer. She captured our day brilliantly and gave us the most perfect memories to look back over, forever.

From our very first meeting of Diane at a wedding fayre, we knew she was the photographer we wanted for our special day. We had a vision in mind. We had chosen Cantley House Hotel in Wokingham due to it's stunning grounds and the fact that it fitted our theme of natural and slightly vintage and Diane's photography fitted perfectly with our vision. Every tiny detail that we had worked on was included in our photos and so many great natural shots were captured.

Our day turned out to be the hottest day of the year last year and everything went to plan. We couldn't have asked for better and in Diane, we got it all.
