Frequently Asked Portrait Sitting Questions

How many photographs do you take?

It varies for every portrait sitting. I always ensure I have plenty of fantastic images to give you a variety of photographs telling your story.

I love your contemporary work but I would also like a formal photograph too...

No problem, I am happy to take formal portraits too.

I am not keen on having my photograph taken...

There is no need to worry. I am experienced professional photographer who has taken portraits of hundreds of people over the years. Nerves are eliminated by my relaxed and fun style. There is also the advantage of being in the comfort of your own home.

Can I have only my children photographed?

The portrait sitting can be for children only; however a parent or guardian must be present at all times if there are participants under the age of 18.

Worried my toddler might misbehave/ baby cry.

The portrait.....

Can I have only my pet photographed?

Yes no problem, however a family member will need to be present at all times. You may need to feature in a few photographs at the beginning of the sitting to put them at ease.

How long should I allow for the portrait sitting or mini session party?

For family studio sittings, please allow approximately 2 hours which includes time for any outfit changes, the setting up and dismantling of the mobile studio. For mini studio parties, please allow approximately 20 minutes per set of siblings plus 20 minutes for setting up and the same again for dismantling the studio. Only one group of siblings can be photographed at the same time due to the size of the background.

For lifestyle family portraits, please allow approximately 1 hour. For mini session parties, 20 minutes per sibling group.

If you have several parents bringing young children to your mini session party you may wish allocate your friends separate appointment times.

How much space do you need for the studio background?

The studio background and lights will take up approximately 8 x 8 feet on the floor by 8 feet high and can accommodate on average 5 people in a group photo. For newborns on their own, a bed tends to be used as a comfortable and safe area in which I lay my blanket background on.

Lifestyle portraits don't require any space allocation. Sittings taking place at home indoors tend to be captured around the sofa in a relaxed style.

Are our portraits copyright free?

Copyright of digital files purchased is shared allowing you to make unlimited prints and copies for your family and friends, for no profitable gain. I respect your privacy and will always ask for your permission for the right to reproduce a small number of your photographs in the public domain for marketing.

What area do you cover?

I cover Berkshire and the surrounding counties. For families who live elsewhere in the country I am happy to do the sitting at another relative's home. If you live further than 30 miles from Reading, Berkshire please contact me for sitting prices.

Are you insured?

Yes, I have public liability and professional indemnity insurance. My studio lighting kit for home portrait sittings is PAT tested. I am also DBS checked.

Can other family members order photographs and take advantage of the first order discount you give us with our portrait sitting?

No problem, all photographs from the same sitting ordered together can receive the first order discount.

When do I pay?

Payment of £210 is required on booking your studio or lifestyle sitting, which includes a £50 sitting fee and £160 towards your choice or products. Payment for optional additional items is taken when ordering. Payment is by cheque, internet bank transfer or PayPal.

If you have a question that isn't featured above please do not hesitate to contact me.
